Snohomish SJAA Hoops Mini-Tourney under way

The Snohomish Junior Athletic Association Baskeball league end of season tournament is now underway. Tuesday evening the Dutch Hill squad faced Cascade View in the 5th/6th grade braket. After a close 1st half the Dutch Hill Panthers pulled away for the win and will play Seattle Hill at 6:30pm this Thursday, Feb 18th, at the old Snohomish H.S freshman campus on Maple Ave. See the tournament brackets here.

Nail-biter at Snohomish.

Down at halftime, the Snohomish Panthers clawed their way back into the game by the end of the third quarter and tied the game late in the fourth period. In crunch time, Trevor Carlson hit some big three’s down the stretch and dropped some key free-throws in the last minute of the game. Snohomish defense came up large in the second half as the Panthers played with far more urgency. Final Score: Snohomish 48, Marysville-Pilchuck, 44.

SJAA: youth and select Basketball underway

The Snohomish Junior Athletic Association (grade school level) and the Snohomish Basketball Association (select teams) are now underway with their season. Pictured below are the youth teams and players from SJAA Dutch Hill, Snohomish Select 7th and 8th graders who recently played opponents at the old Snohomish H.S. Freshman campus on Maple ave.

One of the best features of living in Snohomish is the vibrant sports scene. The founder of this online community blog has a lot of ideas where both high school athletics and local club sports such as Little League, Snohomish Club sports and high school exposure. Most of the commentary will be of those in season except for local club sports which can run much of the year.

I am hopeful that participation by Snohomish residents directly involved in the local sports scene such as coaches, parents, athletes, trainers and club or Little-League board members would consider contributing to this effort by making guest posts as a contributor.
